Is Hollow Knight good for 12 year olds? ›

This game has quite a few scenes, lore, and imagery that may frighten a younger player. One example is Deepnest, which is a very dark area that has quite a few creepy enemies. Some of the enemies might appear scary for some.

It's a difficult (but not impossible) game, at best, so frustration might be the worst they will encounter. But it has no bad language, not sexual content, no substance abuse, the violence is not gore, I don't remember any suicide theme. I cannot think of any other topic not suitable for children to analyse.

Does this game pose issues for Christian players? While the majority of the violence seen in this game isn't anything to write home about, there are a few exceptions. A bigger issue is the way everything is built around magic, with ghosts, spirits, and even a pair of rival "gods" making an appearance.

This game has so many possibilities! I rate it 7+ because there are many scary scenes but no so much violence. I had so much fun playing this game!

Just playing through and getting a decent ending is hard but not too bad. I'd say the hardest part for that is the fact that you gotta beat 2 final bosses in a row and losing to the second one sends you back to fight the first. 100% completion is... insanely difficult.

No real adult themes. My 7 year old loves the idea of the game. Its too hard for her, but she loves watching me and discussing lore.

There is a scene where a man twists his neck to a full rotation, which can scare some kids. Another scene is where women transform into witches, so please be careful if considering to watch this, and make sure that your children are not easily frightened before watching this.
