Okay, I know that lots of people have suggested summoner improvements, but I feel that not all of them have made summoner a completely viable class. That and Isn't the only reason why I wanted to make it but that is not the only reason why I made this thread, but I am a lazy butt so I'll keep it short and sharp. I hope you enjoy and P.S this is only my second suggestion so don't hate too hard
Note:now minions DO have critical strikes.
Earlygame staffs
First of we don't really have a weapon to start off with, so solved this with the falcon staff
it will be obtainable in wooden chests
Falcon staff
5 summon damage
10 mana
4% crit chance
Summons a falcon to damage your enemies
the falcon will fly around you and dive down toward enemies.
Archer staff
Crafting:

100 wooden arrows

Enchanted Gel
The slime staff was too rare, so I made it that you had to venture underground, but was still pretty obtainable

Crimson:
Creeper staff
Crafting:
12 crimtane bars
18 tissue samples
Summons a creeper to fight for you
Same kind of movement as the actual creepers eg. swarming you and rushing any enemies they see
Stats: 15 damage
4% crit chance
Corruption:
Devourer staff
Crafting:
12 demonite bars
18 shadow scales
It behaves exactly like normal devourers and each time you summon a new minion it grows and does more damage.
Stats:
16- 28 damage (depending on minion count, each time you summon a new one it does 2 more damage) after the max damage has been reached, further summons improve length and speed but not damage.
Ice Biome
First off I decided to make this a mostly summon biome in prehardmode. Rangers have dungeon, Magic has jungle and meteorite, melee has hell and Crimson/Corruption
And throwing has desert, so summoner will get ice.
Ice crystals will spawn in the biome like crystal shards, and will not emit light. They will only be mineable with nightmare/crimtane pick or greater, and the block underneath is unmineable unless the ice shard has been destroyed

Snowman staff
Summons an immobile snowman to throw snowballs at enemies

Max 3 snowballs thrown per second
Ice golem staff
Summons ane ice golem to fight for you

14 ice crystals
Stats:
23 damage
4% crit chance
Throws ice boulders that damage enemies and behaves like a normal boulder (if enemies are far away)
If enemies are closer it does contact damage
Snow charm

10 icy shards
Stats:
Accessory
Minions inflict hypothermia (new debuff) which does 5 damage per second and slightly reduces movement speed.
Icy bone
Dropped from undead vikings at a 5% chance
Stats: increases minion movement speed and decreases summon staff mana cost
Polar bear staff
Found in ice chests
Stats:
10 damage
4% crit chance
Does contact damage
These items didn't fit into any category really so they ended up here
Hive staff
Crafting:
14 bee wax
Stats: 18 summon damage
4% crit
Summons an immobile bee hive to shoots bees at your enemies
Bees fuction like normal bees
Icy shell
Crafting:
1 icy bone
1 antlion shell

Poison fang
Found in jungle shrines

Accessory
Minions inflict poisoned on enemies for 5 seconds
