Shelton, Aug. 17 (P)-Because of a fire in Livona, about 85 women employees of the Sponge Rubber Products Company will be out of work for a while. The Livona fire last week damaged a factory where General Motors Corporation produces automatic transmissions.
The Sponge Rubber Products which. maintains seven plants in the Naugatuck Valley area here, makes parts for the Livona A company, spokesman said the layoffs by the fire started today, affected 10 to 15 employees, and that the total is expected to reach 85 by Friday. Most are employed in the company's plant situated in Derby. The spokesman said Motors is trying to set up facilities in another plant to carry on the operations halted in Livona. 132 MORE CASUALTIES Washington, Aug.

1 military assignment from Gen. Omar N. Bradley, has a new team to work with and one specific order from his boss, Premident' Eisenhower. President's Order The order: all decisions of the joint. chiefs must be unanimous.
An hour after Radford took his oath of office, the new Army chief of staff, Gen. Matthew B. Ridgway, was sworn in to succeed Gen. J. Lawton Collins.
On: Monday, Adm. Robert B. Carney will succeed Adm. William M. Fechteler as the new chief of naval operations.
Nathan F. Twining, the fourth member of the new Eisenhower team, already has taken office as chief of the A Air Force. Radford, the Pacific Fleet commander, was on hand to greet Ike in what might have been a mere protocol meeting. Radford has outlined in these words the military policy he is expected pursue: 'All evidence points to the unpleasant fact that the U.
